Overview
CoreSite is a data center and interconnection company that provides colocation services to businesses, network providers, and digital platforms
The agency I sub-contracted to had been commissioned with the sites new direction. My job was to extract themes, shapes and ideas from their existing brand to assist in the continued development of the brand below is som of my research.
Everything starts with a sketch.
Dissecting the shapes found within the logomark
Exploring the possibilities extracted from the Coresite logo. These icons are still in use.
Colour explorations.
Approach
My research began with my trusty paper and pencil and an exploration of the logomark itself being the gateway to the service with illustrations that portrayed the depth of the business visually.
I literally took the logo apart to develop shape themes that could be used to inform future layouts and created icons that connected directly to the logomark in principle.
I also explored colour combinations and mockups to give ideas for the design team. This was then collated to create a short research document you can download a copy here.
Conclusion
The research, accompanying document and discussions around the work( not seen in full here) helped the design team at the agency and the Coresite management to see their business from a different perspective.
The principles are still in use today with icons and other areas of the site.
Expanding the concept of the Core in Coresite.
Putting it all together to create a brand language that can help develop designs and concepts.
